L.M. Sutton Any place in the book world? Wow, this is a hard question to answer. Two places - both back in time. I would love to go back to the wild west, when most of the middle and western parts of the United States were still territories and being explored. I would be one of those women who was on horseback along side the boys, but I would know how to clean myself up when needed. Of course, I would only want to go if I made it back in one piece.

The other time is the late 1700s, early 1800s England. I just would like to experience what it was like to live in that time and what it would be like to be a member of the Ton. I would go to parties, the theater, balls, you name it.
L.M. Sutton I cannot name them all. With COVID happening to all of us this summer, I have read so many books from many new authors. Most of the new authors were indie/self-published authors like myself. I really try to help out the newbies, to give them a chance, as I know all to well how hard it is to get noticed by readers.

I have also read a few of my favorite best selling authors. Currenlty, I am reading Helen Hardt's blood bond saga and have Blook of Zeus by Meredith Wild and Angel Payne sitting on my bookshelf just beggine me to start reading.
L.M. Sutton Normally I do not need much to get me inspired to write. I have always written for pleausre and in different genres. For instance, I like writing poetry and if you read my poems, you can definitely identify my mood as I was writing. I have also written a children's book, whcih was put on the back burner to publish as I focus on my romance writing.

There are times that I am just not in the mood to write. When this occurs, I change my scenery, focus on something else, or do something I enjoy. Usually this does the trick.
L.M. Sutton Follow your dreams. If you have always wanted to be a writer, do it. Have reasonable expectations, but work hard. For those of us starting out, we may not have the funds to hire the expensive professionals to edit our work. If you are on a tight budget, I recommend convincing a friend or two who have backgrounds in English and literature to help with editing. Get a few beta readers and be very open to constructive criticism and heed other's advice. There are also freelancers on sites such as UpWork who can be hired, often at reasonable rates, to provided editing and proofreading services.

One mistake I did not realize I kept making was using the British English version of a word instead of the American English version. While it was techncally correct, I am an American and all of the other aspects of my writing was American English, thus I made the correction and will no longer make this mistake.
L.M. Sutton Currently, I am working on the second book in the Donovan Security Series - The Property. It is a continuation of the story, even though it will not be necessary to read the first book in the series, The Trade, prior to reading book two.
L.M. Sutton The idea for THE TRADE came from many sources. Drake and Lila, the main characters, I knew were going to have challenges in building their relationship. Since there was going to be an action element and not just a love story, I like to feed off current topics or challenges in the world. In this book I chose a crime that is a problem worldwide and affects more people than we realize. Intermixing a love story with fighting evil people developed into the first book in the Donovan Security Series.
L.M. Sutton I have always loved to use my imagination with words. For years, I have written for pleasure and shared with very few. As I grew older, I realized I should share my passion with others. Being able to see my characters come to life through my stories is very rewarding,
