I'm setting up interviews and creating a lot of media for my book launch right now. My memoir When She Comes Back releases on Mother's Day, 2021 which is May 9th so these days I'm very logistics-oriented and I have my producer hat a lot of the time. I'm used to this kind of work because I also produce my podcast And Then Everything Changed and so getting efficient and deadline-oriented is kind of second nature. But I'm excited to get back to creating and the YA novel I started which is a lot of fun to work on. Once When She Comes Back is launched and in the world I'll be full-time back on the novel. I'm also working on two short essays to be published in April; one on memoir craft and one about motherhood and my memoir.

I know this is not an original answer but it's the simplest and easiest to do for anyone starting out and for writers who have been writing for a while: write.
It's a muscle, a feeling, and when you find it and begin using it regularly you almost have your own writing habitat that you can go back to again and again no matter where you are. It's a comfort to know that wherever you are you can put on this creative mantle and get to work.

This is not an easy question for me to answer because there's a ton I like about being a writer. If I had to sum it up though I think for me it's the time I can dedicate to being in my own head without feeling like I'm supposed to be doing something else.
I can work out relationships and my understanding of behavior; think about and dwell in the past if I want, create something new from something old, and learn how I feel about what I and the people I care about have experienced. I especially like this idea of creating something from where nothing was before.
