Glad to hear a new one is coming. I have another YA fantasy, the start of a new series, coming out in August.

Hmm. My Kindle usually sends the reviews directly both places.
After checking--my review is showing up on Amazon.com (in the US), but not on Amazon.co.uk. (the bookworm review on the UK site is also not showing on the US one). I'm not sure why that's the case. Maybe in my review settings on Amazon.com? I'll try and look into it later today.

Sometimes dreams, sometimes things I see in real life, but most often, I'm busily writing something else and a new shiny idea comes along to distract me.

I think I've always wanted to go to Rivendell, for the music and dancing and libraries and long walks. Quiet when I wanted it, company when that felt better. I can't imagine anywhere better.

Like many story ideas, this one came to me while I was working hard on something completely different. I don't know why that works for me, but it does.

Write!
And read a bunch.
And write more.
And read more.
And at some point, let somebody read what you've written, and try not to argue with them when they tell you about what didn't make sense to them--or sound good to them--or connect with them. Even if they're totally wrong. Or it hurts.
In my experience, the stuff that hurts is the stuff that really needs to be fixed.

Having an excuse to write.
I mean, I'd do it anyway. I've been regularly writing since high school. But it's nice to say, "I'm writing," and have people talk to me as if they're thinking, "Well, of course, that's your job," instead of "why are you spending time on that nonsense?"

I'm working on a story about a young woman sacrificed to a dragon--and what happens when the dragon isn't interested in eating her.
I'm also gearing up to write the next draft of StarRacer, the sequel to Leaving Hope. Depending on how that goes, I hope to announce the release date for StarRacer at the end of the summer.

It usually helps me to take a walk. Or work some on a different story.

I don't have a list, exactly, but here are the ones on the top of the bookshelf in my office: The Book Thief, Look Both Ways in the Barrio Blanco, Lethal White, Dakota, Crashing the Grid, Promised to the Crown, Cinder, and The Planets. There's also a bilingual Bible (I doubt I'll read the whole thing this summer. If I'm reading the Chinese side, it will probably only be a few pages.)
