My wonderful editor once told me that she doesn't believe in Writer's Block. If you can't get something on the page, the root cause is in the story. I took her advice and reflected on it and found that to be true. It wasn't that I couldn't write, it's that the story wouldn't allow me to. I had to delete some stuff, then rework it, but ultimately it as all better for it.

For me it is re-reading my own work. I know that sounds vain, but I'm new at this, so looking back at what I have accomplished gives a sense of purpose. Like "Wow. I really can do this." If that makes sense.

Man, I'm not famous or anything so giving advice is hard. I try my best to be humble. That being said, if I HAD to give advice, its that you should write what you want to read. Take yourself on an adventure as you create ones for others.

"Existence" was recently picked up by an Indie Publisher so after hammering out a short story for submission, I started writing out the first draft of the sequel for "Existence".

I always carry around little seeds of plots, whether they be for short stories or novel ideas, but what really inspires is going out on adventures of my own. Mostly that boils down to simple hikes in mountains or desert, but I find that spending some time out in the wilderness really kick starts my writing drive.

"Existence" was really inspired by a sort of lack of anything that I really wanted to read. There are a ton of great authors that do what I do (and probably better), and I enjoy many of them immensely. That being said, while all of them have elements of what I want, a lot of them don't scratch every itch.
