Write.
I know it's scary, and self-doubt is constantly creeping in. Maybe you won't like what you write. Maybe no one will. But like most things creative, writing is a skill.
You will not know what you're capable of if you let fear keep you from trying. And you will not get better at it if you are afraid to write in the first place. The first step to becoming a good writer is writing. Then, once you have written, edit your work and turn it into the story you want it to be!

I read. Good authors and good stories encourage me to try and do what others do. Movies and TV shows can inspire me as well.

I was originally creating a tabletop RPG setting. I thought of some cool concepts for players to interact with, but scheduling game nights isn't easy. Since our games were so few and far between, I decided I would play in that world on my own. I made some modifications from the games we had played and then I started writing Sprig.

I don't believe in writer's block as an arbitrary force that keeps you from writing. Whenever I am struggling to motivate myself to writez there is a reason. Sometimes it is that I havent thought through the next scene/chapter/arc enough. So I drag my feet because I don't know what to write.
Other times it may be that I am doubting my abilities as a writer. Write down encouragement that people give you so you can read it when you are feeling this way.
Another reason I struggle to write is because emotionally or physically exhausted. In this case, take a break for a day or maybe two, but make sure you have a plan for when you will start writing again.
The cause of my lack of motivation isn't always immediately apparent, but I have yet to have 'writers block' without eventually finding a reason for it.
