I am a retired elementary school teacher and miss kids. Writing helps me give back to them by getting my books into their hands and hearts--I hope.
In addition, writing is a creative endeavor, so like painters, sculptors, musicians, and dancers, I can release my ideas into the world where I hope they will remain long after I'm gone. So it's also about building a legacy.

I am currently working with my publisher to release Nutmeg Street: Egyptian Secrets on February 1, 2020. It is Book 1 in my Botanic Hill Detectives Mysteries series.
Books 2 and 3 in the series are finished, waiting in the wings.

I live in a neighborhood with streets named for botanicals, e.g., Nutmeg Street, Jacaranda Street, Palm Street, etc. Those became the inspiration for the Botanic Hill detectives part of my middle grade mystery series.
Also, I loved studying about Egypt and reading Nancy Drew and Phyllis A. Whitney mysteries when I was a tween, so I thought tweens might like a mystery involving the theft of an ancient Egyptian artifact.
And voila! That's how Nutmeg Street: Egyptian Secrets was born!
