Christopher Bussard Since my book was about myself and my fight against depression, OCD, and anxiety, my inspiration comes from seeing others battle with mental illness. I want to help others who struggle to encourage them, and to let people who don't have these issues know what our daily struggles consist of.
Christopher Bussard I do not currently have a book in the works, but I continue to write on my blog. You can find it at thefightwithdepression.wordpress.com.
I have several ideas for future books that I will hopefully put down in writing. They range from continuing to write about mental health, to fiction, to suspense.
Christopher Bussard The best thing I would have to say to aspiring writers is to try not get discouraged, and don't give up. There may be times when you think people don't care what you have to say, or that it may not be worth it. This is what I dealt with throughout my process. But don't give up.
I would also advise you to do your research. Don't go with the first or cheapest publisher, the first editor, the first cover designer, etc. What works for one person won't work for everyone. Find out whose style will work well with you and what you need. If you find someone you like, give it a couple days or more before you make your decision.
Christopher Bussard What I have found to work when stumped by writer's block is to step away. I find that my brain keeps working when I'm trying not to think about what I want to write. I have a sentence or two that will pop in my head as something I want to say. I write it down in my notebook, and the next time I sit down to write, I type out what I wrote in my notebook verbatim and the thought continues to pour out. The reason I copy it word for word is that I can always come back to edit, but this allows my brain to free-flow instead of trying to find out the best way to say what I already wrote down.
