Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
R.E. Schicchi I cannot point to one particular idea.

I grew up in South Florida and have many friends from the Caribbean. I also have always liked stories about pirates and tall ships. I wanted to create a world that took place in the age of pirates.

I've always been drawn to stories about the supernatural, especially with witches. I guess it was natural for me to incorporate these ideas into this world.

How do you get inspired to write?
R.E. Schicchi I am an artist so anything visual will inspire me.

Also reading and music will stir creation.

R.E. Schicchi Diving into Book 2 of The Crystal Astrid Series, Crystal Revelations

Also finishing up my Breaking News The Series with my TV writing partner DK Johnson.

R.E. Schicchi Learn to write a good story.

Story is first and foremost!

How do you deal with writer’s block?
R.E. Schicchi To just sit down and write. Just plant yourself in the seat and write freestyle if you have to. Many times I will just write a base outline for a scene then jump to another scene and work on that. My process is fluid. I have a television background so jumping from one scene to another is comfortable for me.

Also another good tip is to do what screenwriter's do. Map out your scenes on note cards.
