At 10:30 last night, an idea just suddenly struck me. I got up and wrote it down immediately, and I've been working on writing it all day!

It depends what causes my writer's block. If it's because I've reached a part of my book that I can't seem to figure out, I take a little break. After a week or so, I force myself to write again so I can get back to scenes I'll enjoy. I find that a great cure for any type of writer's block is by reading a book or watching a great movie. They make me feel creative!

What makes a writer isn't publishing, getting reviews, or becoming famous. While those are awesome things that could happen (if you work at it) on your journey as a writer, they're nowhere in the definition. To be a writer, you honestly just have to WRITE. Reading is a great way to learn more about writing. I strongly recommend 'Go Teen Writers: Edit Your Novel' by Stephanie Morrill and Jill Williamson.

A writer is a creator of worlds. We can create a story that could be around for decades, one that doesn't change even though the world changes around it. We can send people on adventures, choose what they see in their minds... and if that's not magic, please tell me what is!

I go on Pinterest, post on my blog, read (this one's a big one!) watch an interview with a famous author, or do research. Usually if I'm in the middle of a project I love, though, I'm always inspired to write.

I don't want to reveal much yet, but I'm working on a novel that's sort of a modern twist of Dracula. I'm really excited about it; I've already fallen in love with a handful of characters...
