Lacey Napiontek No but I can in four sentences.

"Who ever thought a parking garage was safer than street parking has never heard that loney echo of a single pair of stilettos reverberating off of hollow walls. The scene of his crimes were his signature, and this cold dismal corridor, was playfully iridescent in his sadistic mind. Buried deep beneath the ground he could imagine himself the conductor of  the orchastra as he  spoke the soundtrack of trauma through his hands. His lips curled into a heady smile as he begin to visualize the inexhaustible variety of sinister possibility this concrete playground held."
Lacey Napiontek Growing up with a brother who has pursued a career as a musician has presented me several unique opportunities to peer into a world that is shrouded in mystery. When he was 19 years old he went to Nashville and become a staff songwriter working with well known artists to craft the music you hear on the radio. When I would visit him I would get to experience certain parts of his life, like being on the inside of a studio and watching how his singular voice would blend into the robust instrumental accompaniment. Or sitting in a car when that lighting bolt moment of an idea finds him and witnessing the process of words being thrown around in an impromptu songwriting session of new music taking shape. He would introduce me to people I either recognized or knew of their work and I would have the privilege of getting to know someone beyond their fame. These unique life experiences, gave me inspiration to create a fictional story that reminds us all that fame is simply a matter of perspective.
Lacey Napiontek Writing is as natural a process as breathing for me, and inspiration like low hanging fruit just waiting to be harvested. I am in my most ambitious state when an idea or thought evokes an emotional response. I believe this is what makes art memorable. It doesn’t matter if the response is a good or bad emotion, life always has it’s ups and downs. I look for both, because Indifference is the place where inspiration becomes stagnant.
Lacey Napiontek I just published a novel earlier this year called Relationship Status Complicated. It is a contemporary romance novel that is set in the fictional town of Briley’s point. Following the unliking pairing of celebrity musician James Trey, and small town girl Paige Finley. When I started the project, I endeavored to write the kind of story that indulged the desire to fall in love along with the characters and yet still felt good to read. It most important to me that a readers experience could resonate on a deeper level, and that my words would reaffirm that love that has the strength to surpass any obstacle. What came to life through this sweet and playful story was the feeling of simply being enough. The combination of clever word play, coupled with an enormous amount of exposed emotion is pure magic. At it's heart, this book is a good old fashioned, wholesome love story following the inspiration of some of my favorite storytellers from Nicholas Sparks to F. Scott Fitzgerald. While this story might seem to be straight fantasy as we explore the idea of dating a celebrity sans Tom cruise jumping on Oprah's couch. The magnetism begins when the fantasy converges into the reality of how a relationship deepens between two broken people once they let intimacy develop. We all must learn how to balance our adult responsibility with the insatiable need to dream. Overall Relationship status complicated attempt to humanize fame and showcase the strength it takes to love another unconditionally. I am confident that this novel will appeal to women of all ages looking to be swept up. In a post Nora Ephron world we desperately need someone who can remind us that love has the power to awaken a part of us that we didn't even know was dormant. It can challenge us, encourage us to see ourselves through the eyes of someone who accepts even the darkest parts of who we are.
Lacey Napiontek Fear and ignorance are the two biggest stumbling blocks you will ever face, but you are the only person standing between yourself and achieving your goal. When I write, I start with a draft that I tell myself is only for me. I write the good, the bad and the ugly of my thoughts and feelings without suppression. I let go of the fear of being politically correct, being received well, or even being liked and I write the truth....the way I see it anyways. Write about your struggle with Anorexia, or the helplessness of being raped, write about the feelings you have for the boy you can’t say out loud, write about your mother, the things you love and the things that make you crazy. Write about your depression, your disgust for something everyone else seems to love or accept, the things you are most embarrassed by, or the thing you fear the most. The point is to write. When I have completely exerted every emotion I feel on paper the ink stars back at me and I realize it isn’t the fear of sharing yourself with others that haunts you. No the hardest part sometimes is just admitting it to yourself. You may not share everything you write but you will find powerful words that are inescapable to the subject you most want to shed light on.
Lacey Napiontek For me writing is an emotional experience. As a collector of words, I have learned that there are many ways to say something, but there is only one way to express exactly what how you feel. Take the word beautiful, there are many versions of that word. Cute, adorable, sexy, expressive, stunning.. I bet you could add to this list... .each word has their own image. To be be able to capture exactly the what you feel, and arrest someone else’s heart with recognition. That is what I love the best about being an writer.
Lacey Napiontek My secret weapon for combating writers block is to keep a master list of notes. Life experiences happen every day all around us. The sights, sounds, emotions, smells, and textures of everyday life fill the pages of my master list. Every insight, deep discussion, overheard humorous comment, and intimate thought that passes through my mind are unique to my life experiences, and every individual has them. I label sections in my master list that help me organize my thoughts notes about food, notes about music, notes about love, notes about grief, notes from my trip to Chicago. And every time I have a worthwhile description or interesting thought I catalog it for those moments when I am unsure of what I want to say.
