Marc R. Micciola Write whatever comes into that brilliant head of yours. Even when you think that something might not be worth writing down, do it. Don't stress about the little things and focus on the heart of your story. Give yourself credit for all the progress you make and take it easy on yourself when you're progress slows down. Oh and never be afraid to ask for advice, majority of authors are really helpful people!
Marc R. Micciola Honestly? It all started a few years ago when I was trying to find things that made me happy. I was in a rough patch of my life mentally and so I decided to get back into writing short stories. After a while, I decided I wanted to take a crack at writing a story form the POV of a villain.

It was one of my more favorite things I had ever written. Some time passed by and I decided to expand on it. Doing that led me to create a plot for a full scale novel. Doing that led me to creating an entire world. Doing that led me to creating a plot that just so happens to be the one I will be exploring in the Age of Shadow Saga.

Ascension is the beginning of that story.
Marc R. Micciola Well, I'm placing the final last touches on my debut novel Ascension right now. I have also begun writing the first draft of its sequel and the second book in the Age of Shadow Saga.

As a side project to mix things up every now and then/to keep me entertained while I wait for things like editing or beta reading to be done, I have a darker style book concerning magic and vampires that I'm working on.
Marc R. Micciola Listening to my favorite soundtracks help. Watching a movie in the same genre as what I'm writing rejuvenates me too.

I think the biggest thing that can help when dealing with writer's block is this:

Every word written is another step closer to a finished book. If all you can get out is a paragraph, or a sentence, or maybe even only a word; it's all a step in the right direction.

Also, I think understanding that writing and editing need to be separate things. Too often people hit a writers block because they're editing/criticizing as they're writing and it's stunting their creativity. Just write and have fun doing it!
Marc R. Micciola Honestly I haven't gotten much reading done in a long time. Anxiety keeps me from relaxing enough to really sit down with a book and read, but I do try to get my storytelling fixes elsewhere through video games and Netflix.

While I'm not reading anything myself, I can suggest two authors and their works if you're a fan of fantasy. Both Tom Lloyd and Mark Lawrence are excellent authors, and their books "Stormcaller" and "Prince of Thorns" respectively are two of my favorites. They're also the first books in a series/trilogy so you'd have plenty other books to read if you like them!
Marc R. Micciola Without a doubt in my mind, I would travel to JRR Tolkien's Middle Earth. I would ride horses in Rohan, look out over the Fields of Pelennor atop Minas Tirith, admire the sights of Rivendell, dine with the elves of Lothlorien, drink with the dwarves in Erebor and finish off my adventure having a pint of ale at the Green Dragon Inn with the hobbits of The Shire.
Marc R. Micciola The sound of my bedroom door slowly creaking open caused me to doubt my memory of locking the doors as I squeezed my eyes shut in the hopes that whatever, or whoever, was causing my door to move was just a figment of my imagination. I curled into a ball, hoping and praying that I was only dreaming of the cool air that washed over me but, just as I was beginning to convince myself this was all a bad dream, I was pulled from my bed by a damp, clawed hand.
