Jennifer L. Cahill It was really important to me to include a character who was brand new to London, and Zara was the perfect candidate for this. Moving to London, or indeed any big city, can be absolutely life-changing and I wanted to include a character who moved from another part of the UK, so that people would realise that London can be challenging for everyone who moves there. I also didn't want to have just one female protagonist, I wanted to include two very different characters to demonstrate the different types of transformation. George, who is a secondary character, is very different to both Zara and Penelope, and she is a good grounding force as the other two characters experience huge transformation. Both of my female MCs go through huge changes, but in very different ways. A lot of people are loving Zara, and I'm delighted that readers are relating to her and to her struggles.
Jennifer L. Cahill We are living in the most innovative period in living history, and as a change specialist I've had lots of experience of how this is affecting every aspect of our daily lives, including romantic relationships from the point of view of men and women. I was inspired to write about this, and how I think that expectations and relationship models need to shift with the times that we are living in. This is no mean feat as we are still right in the middle of incredible transformation, innovation and change and nobody fully knows where this is leading us yet. I also love London and tried to capture the essence of what it is like living here. I also simply love writing and started by simply writing a story and then the book took off from there. I didn't plan my first book in advance I just started it and the story grew from there.
Jennifer L. Cahill Constantly experiencing and learning new things inspires me to write. Living in London inspires me, as I meet the most incredible people and experience the most incredible things here on a daily basis. Often the things that happen to or around me are stranger than fiction.
This is the same in any big city, so travelling to other interesting places also inspires me to write.
Jennifer L. Cahill I'm currently working on three books. I'm halfway through my second book and have started the third and fourth. Whichever one is finished first will be my next book.
Jennifer L. Cahill I always advise aspiring writers to get a copy of 'The Artist's Way' by Julia Cameron, it's a must read for anyone wanting to write or be creative in anyway.
Jennifer L. Cahill Writing can be like leading a double life....you have your own life, and then the lives that you are creating for your characters. When you are a writer everything can double up as inspiration, and you start living life periodically through a second lens. I love the actual writing process itself, creating new characters, scenarios and sometimes worlds from scratch, and then of course entertaining the readers. That's really the best part of being a writer, when readers are enjoying your work.
Jennifer L. Cahill The first, and most important way of dealing with it, is to not panic. Blocks come and go and I never try to push through it. I go off and do something else and the inspiration starts flowing again. Getting stressed about being blocked only makes it worse.
