C.R. Flamingbush Ironically, by writing - because what I have found is that writer's block is caused by being bound up inside. It's a heart matter, but often we don't know what's in our hearts until we get it out on paper. I go about it prayerfully, with thanksgiving and praise, which always puts me in a better frame of mind. As I write down my thoughts, I often discover what's holding me back. Usually there's a relationship issue. I may be feeling guilty over something mean I said to someone. Or perhaps I'm feeling unjustly condemned by something someone said to me. Once I figure out the source of the block and deal with it, the ideas start to flow again. It doesn't always happen fast, and I can't say I do it perfectly, but what I have discovered is that a positive frame of mind is key to overcoming writer's block. (My first real case of writer's block came during the editing process, because it involved so much critiquing - it's hard to go with the flow when you feel like you'll never get your book done).
C.R. Flamingbush I never thought I'd say this, but it's the marketing. That's because, if you want your book to sell, you really need know the message you're trying to convey. Knowing what you want to say in turn breeds confidence. I'm always learning something new.
C.R. Flamingbush In a nutshell: Get plenty of honest feedback from people you trust, and be prepared to do a lot of editing.
C.R. Flamingbush A sequel to Speed of Sight.
C.R. Flamingbush Wow, that's a great question, and I don't know if it has a single answer. Praying inspires me. So does the Bible. I love humor, and humor flows when I'm at peace. That seems to be a key ingredient to getting inspired, because whatever I try to force stops flowing.

Book series such as C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia inspire me too, and so does opposition from people who disagree with issues I care deeply about. It gives me a reason to press through writer's block even when I'm tired. Movies, whether good or bad, can inspire me too. The things I like I try to emulate to a degree. The things I hate motivate me to do the opposite. But the main thing is to be at rest, free from worry. That's something I need to fight for every day.
C.R. Flamingbush It came as a single idea, a message for a child from a broken home - the idea that God cares how you feel and can help you overcome whatever problems you may face. At first it was going to be ''Superhero Secrets from Dave's Cave," which had a lot to do with problems David had with Saul. That was about nine years ago. It has gone through many changes since that time, and you won't find any mention of David in this book - though he may show up in a sequel.
