While I work on the 4th book in the Realm of Areon series, I am also writing a prequel that takes place 700 years before the series starts. It's planned as a novella, but may end up as a full-length novel.

Honestly, I don't get writer's block. I get "writer's delay"; there's a big difference. "Writer's delay" is when I WANT to write, and know exactly WHAT to write, but don't have the time to do so.

From concept to finish, it took me 16 years to write my 1st book. Lots of factors went into that long delay, which I won't bore you with, but needless to say, the time it took me to write the book, from starting Chapter 1 to finishing the final chapter, it took me a little over a year.
My advice is simple: Don't stress about everything. Just start the book and finish it. Worry about everything else later, because it'll come easier to you if you take stress out of the equation. I spent years focusing on the world-building of my series, and jotting down pages and pages of notes, that I began to lose sight of the story itself; until one day I just said, "Forget it, I have enough notes, I'm starting the damn thing and seeing where it goes!"

I find my inspirations everywhere! I'm a big fan of mythology, specifically the Greek and Norse myths. I love classic stories such as Lord of the Rings, and more modern ones like Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, and enjoy paying homage to them in my own way. But AS I'm writing, I get the inspiration and motivation to write by listening to music. The music I choose to listen to usually fits the mood, or the tone, of the moment, as I usually listen to movie scores or video game soundtracks while I write. That's a topic for another question!
