Sage Hampton I write. It sounds stupid, but that's what I do. I might write nonsense, I might write the same word over and over a thousand times, but I write. And then ideas start to come and the words change and something at least half-decent appears on the page.
Sage Hampton Only having to answer to myself! No boss, no colleagues, just me and my imagination.
Sage Hampton Write. That's it. The writing is the hard part, actually putting your butt down on a chair and doing it. No excuses. No waiting for motivation or inspiration. Just write. That's the first step to any writing career, and if you can't do that then I don't think you can be a writer. Once you're busy writing I think the rest will fall into place.
Sage Hampton I don't really agree with inspiration. I think if you're a writer then you write. It's like any other job. If you wait for inspiration to strike then you'll be sitting there all day. Get words on the page and see what happens. Your imagination is usually enough to get a spark going.
Sage Hampton I'd like to say real life *sigh* but purely my (admittedly slightly twisted sometimes) imagination.
