I have a couple of techniques. I am writing in different venues for different reasons. In my day job as a consultant, I am writing content for client deliverables or working on white papers to enhance my company's business. In my spare time, I am blogging on technology trends and opinions about the industry. I can get stuck a lot where I am just drawing a blank. So I usually try switching projects. If nothing is coming for a work project, I switch to a personal project and write a blog post on something totally unrelated. When I am really uninspired, I go for walks and take photographs in different parts of the city.

My original vision for the 'Better Practices Guides' was a set of 9 volumes, so I am currently planning out the second book in this series to hopefully be ready for publication by the end of this year.

For me, as part of my career, I turned writing into a daily habit. I was mostly writing content for client deliverables. That later turned into a side practice of writing white papers. I also dabbled in writing articles for a few technology publications. As technology continued to change, I started to blog and dispense a lot of my opinions in various forms and built a following. Now I continue to do all of these things and it seems to be rare that I am not writing something.

Working in the technology industry for some 30 years, you start to develop a lot of practices, templates, and tools along the way that worked well and seamlessly translate from customer to customer. So this first book was inspired by a lot of the change agents that I have worked with and techniques that I have mastered in delivering some of the large transformation projects from my past.
