Clyde Wonder Twenty years ago I had this crazy idea for a story and wrote the first chapter. Turns out that is now the premise of book two in the trilogy I'm writing. As I started fleshing that idea out for a whole book, the story chose to go in a different direction and I let it run. My first book, "The Game Within," ends up being a prequel to the original idea.
Clyde Wonder Reading a good book or watching a great film tends to get the juices flowing. I just saw the latest Star Wars installment on opening night. I was amazed at how inspired I got by just watching the various trailers ahead of the movie.

They say every idea has already been written about, but that doesn't mean I've written about all those ideas. The list is long and growing.
Clyde Wonder I am currently working on the sequel to my first novel, "The Game Within." The second installment of the trilogy is currently titled "The Song Below." We'll see if that sticks.
Clyde Wonder I'm still one of these so take this with a grain of salt.

My advice is just to write and write and write. All the rest is noise. Write your passion and be proud of it. If the world loves it, that's great. If the world doesn't, who cares?
Clyde Wonder Those of you with traditional jobs (and this includes me) will appreciate this.

The best thing about writing is being allowed to do whatever you want. There are no limits. There is no boss certain they know better than you. Maybe I'm just a control freak, but I'm happy to absorb the responsibility that comes with that autonomy.
Clyde Wonder I don't typically suffer from this malady. My problem is quite the opposite. I can't stop writing. In fact, most of my editing process is removing text. For my first novel, The Game Within, I pulled nearly 8,000 words and still left 110,000.

I do struggle at times while outlining. The style of my writing requires numerous ongoing storylines to interact. This can create challenging continuity issues. Of course, that's half the fun of creating a novel -- figuring all that out.
