Cameron Darrow Right now, my books are all exclusive to Amazon. I may put them out in more stores at some point in the future, though! I'm sorry you won't be able to read them at the moment, but thank you for your interest. If I ever make them available in other stores, I will announce it here for sure.
Cameron Darrow Thank you so much! I do plan to continue the series, and have a future blog post pending on the status of Book IV. The series proper will not reach the present day, as it is very much about that specific era and the fallout of the First World War. But that doesn't preclude the possibility of spinoffs set in the Ashes universe! I've often thought about what Millie and the others would be up to in the present, and might explore those ideas in the future as standalone novels or even short stories. Thanks for the question, and I hope you enjoy Hall of Mirrors!
Cameron Darrow Don't be afraid, you can always change it later!

Be more concerned with your ending than your beginning. The ending will tell you the beginning, so don't concern yourself so much with the latter until you're on draft, like... three.

Listen. Listen, listen, listen. You can't put things out unless you take things in.

Cameron Darrow Originally for 'Remember, Novemeber,' it was just Victoria's opening scene. 'Women wakes up in an open grave with no memory of who she is.' That was it. Everything else spun out of that as I tried to answer the question of who she was. I had had 'magic in WWI' on the brain for a while then, and found a way to merge the two.

I'm a history nerd, having mostly been interested in WWII since I was a teenager. But as I got older, and the centenary of WWI came around, I found myself more and more intrigued by the sheer tragedy of it, the scale of the pointlessness was staggering, and it lacked the convenient 'good vs. evil' narrative of the Second World War.

The role of women in the Second World War is far more well known, with icons like Rosie the Riveter to help popularize it. Much the same thing happened in WWI, but it was less well-known. The emergence of women into the workforce during the war led to a lot of the upheaval of gender norms we see in the '20s with women gaining the franchise in the UK and the US, and the flapper movement, which was much more than just a fashion trend.

History is a jumping off point in this series, the chaos of the world at large told through the eyes of these extraordinary women, and what the upheaval going on around them means for their future.

Cameron Darrow By taking in new things. Reading, watching a movie, or just listening to people talk, it's all fodder for your imagination. I try to keep myself stimulated, providing plenty of grist for my imagination to turn into something I can use in a story. A writer's output is a combination of their influences, and if you're not being influenced, you're not going to have anything to say.
Cameron Darrow The sequel to 'Remember, November.' Entitled 'The Fires of Winter,' it will be out... when it's done!
Cameron Darrow Read. You're probably stuck because you have nothing to say, or you don't know how to say it. Reading can provide a solution to both cases, giving you inspiration when you need it most.

Conversely, force yourself to write. Do word sprints, and try to jog something loose from your imagination by forcing it to engage. You may turn out a lot of crap, but there may be something in there you can polish later. It's all potentially useful when you switch from writer's brain to editor's brain.

The most important thing is not to give into it and do nothing. Either take in something new or put out something new. Don't avoid it. This made all the difference to me, and keeping that in mind and using the above tricks are the reason I have anything published at all!
