Molly Landgraff Writing! (Pause to let everyone groan.)

The best thing about being a writer is getting people's reactions and responses to my work. I have a few friends who I show my work to as I complete each chapter and their enthusiasm helps me get through the hard parts, and encourages me to keep telling stories for them to enjoy.
Molly Landgraff Poorly.

More seriously, when I am writing and can't figure out what to do about a problem, I'll go sit outside and enjoy nature. I live in the city, but there's a few chipmunks and a wild rabbit that live in the area and can occasionally be found in our yard, especially if the birds are dropping birdseed from the feeder, and watching them for awhile sometimes helps me unwind enough that I can approach the problem from another angle.
Molly Landgraff I'm in the brainstorming phase for Fatebane Book Three.
Molly Landgraff The idea for Tally the Witch came out of a lot of daydreams and half-formed ideas for other things that coalesced onto the page as I was working on it. Never abandon an idea just because it doesn't work in what you're writing today. It might just be wrong for the story you happen to be telling right now, but right for the story you tell next time!
Molly Landgraff Before I sleep, but after I'm in bed, I let my mind wander and in that semi-somnolent state I try to focus it towards ideas. But that's not the question--the question is how I get inspired to write.

The answer is: write. If you write every day, you'll be writing without needing inspiration to sit down and do it. It's part of your routine.
Molly Landgraff Give yourself permission to write. Write. Start writing every day. It doesn't have to be perfect, it doesn't even have to be good. You don't have to keep it tomorrow, but write it today. And then write tomorrow. And the next day.

There's a saying that many people don't want to write, they want to have written. There's no shortcut to that, though.

Write.
