Just about any emotion provoking stimulus will spark something. A commercial, or newspaper article. As a nurse, I run into drama regularly at work, and occasionally will flip that into something. Though I have plenty of healthcare related material, I have no desire to write about the medical field.
When I wrote Jungle Rapture, the process began in a methodical fashion. What animal, what setting, etc. However, when I researched my bad guy --poachers-- my blood started to boil. Suddenly, the heroine, Kelsi, had a passion, a goal in life and a mission to accomplish.
The bottom line is, inspiration can come from anywhere.

Nothing anyone probably doesn't know already. Learning the craft never stops and takes work. Obtain feedback on your writing. Keep in mind all feedback has value, even if at first glance the feedback doesn't make sense, evaluate the observation a second time prior to discounting something that doesn't seem to make sense. Network, network then network some more.

Writing. Escape into the world of my choosing. Other authors! I started late and have been very impressed by the collegiality among writers. Great peeps and they help each other.

Fortunately, I haven't had to deal with writer's block too often. The one time I fought it, I tried out adult coloring to stimulate my creative muse. Not sure if it helped or if I just got over the block, but after two evenings I was back to myself again :)
