Rhiannon D'Averc Honestly, no! The characters have always really guided me rather than the other way around. There have been plot points where I wanted the story to go one way, but in writing it, I realised the characters would react a different way and had to change things. They're annoying at times and they both have so many flaws, but for me, that's part of what makes them interesting.
Rhiannon D'Averc I have the first 20 books planned out! I have sketches/outlines of what would happen in the next five books after that, too.
I've mentioned this before in a livestream, but I would also be quite interested in writing a spin-off series later that would focus on Alex Heath. So, definitely at least 20, but maybe the sky is the limit haha!
Rhiannon D'Averc I was once on holiday in Cornwall and had my phone stolen by a French student on a trip. That could be quite an interesting plotline. To make matters worse, I was halfway through a text argument with my could-have-been boyfriend and, as a teen, there was no angst quite like having to wait days to find out what his response was!
Rhiannon D'Averc Yes! It should be already - sometimes I think Amazon can be a little slow rolling out things to different territories. Please try checking again and fingers crossed it will be there!
Rhiannon D'Averc I write every day. I don't wait for inspiration, but rather I write to make the inspiration come.
Rhiannon D'Averc Getting to write every day. Giving voice to the stories that grow in my head. Not having to work a regular job.
Rhiannon D'Averc Thank you! It's all about their personalities and ways of looking at the world. Ram lives in the present moment, rarely looking back if he can help it, always addressing the current need and not worrying too much about the future. Will is more introspective and reflective. When I first started putting together their characters and tried to write the first couple of chapters, it instantly felt right.
Rhiannon D'Averc Thank you! Well, a lot of the cases are inspired by real-life cases. The characters are more complex, but I have always loved TV shows, books, and films that have a pair of leads who can bounce off each other.
Rhiannon D'Averc Get on with it and write. Just write.
Once you've written, you can think about submissions and how you want to publish and all of that extra stuff. But for now, just write. You can't do anything with a manuscript if you haven't got one.
This book might not end up being the one that you publish. But every word you write is practice that will hone your craft.
Rhiannon D'Averc Blood Alcohol, coming out November 2019, was inspired by a couple of different serial cases that happened in real life. Amalgamating those into one new serial killer duo gave me something that could push Will and Ram into a more exciting, more challenging case than ever before.
Rhiannon D'Averc I always say I don't get writer's block. It's true. The reason is that when I am scheduled to write, I show up and write. It's a habit of many years which took time and dedication to learn, and even if every word feels like pulling teeth, I don't give up and walk away until it's done.

I also have a strong process which starts with a plot. If you have a plot laid out properly, you don't need to figure out what goes next, so you don't get writer's block. Bash it out on the page, and if it's rubbish, you can redo it in the second draft. The important thing is making yourself write.
Rhiannon D'Averc I don't make reading lists of this sort, but I can answer what is on my to-read pile beside my bed.

Actually, it's two piles now, because it got so tall it was going to topple over!

I've got the entire Mortal Instruments series for a re-read, In Cold Blood by Capote, two of the Gower St Detective books by Kasasian (#4 and #5), The Martian by Weir, Dostoyevsky's Demons and The Gambler, a number of the Penguin mini books series, Predator by Wilbur Smith, a whole Anne Rice boxset, two random Sharpe books by Cornwell (rescued from a donation pile), Purcell's Bone China, and a collection of Dostoyevsky's short stories. Whew!

Some of them have been on the pile for over a year, but I keep putting new things on top...
