With stiff limbs and a heavy heart, I rose to my feet. The room fell silent.

Hi Linda! I'm sorry I'm so slow, but I'm honestly not doing this to make more money. Being an independent author has been a real learning curve for me, and I've been promoting Addicted for quite a while now, so it's really encouraging to hear that people want to know how the story continues. I'm currently editing a different book, and I plan to begin writing the sequel to Addicted at the start of next year (yes, 2 days away!!!). So hopefully it should be completed mid-2019. Thank you for the message 😍

The Once and Future King, and I would learn all that I could from Merlyn!

Fiction: Re-reading Short Stories of Saki, starting to make my way through the Game of Thrones series from the very beginning, The Princess Bride, The Moving Finger (Agatha Christie).
Non-fiction: A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century (Barbara Tuchman) - research for my current project.

Sorry to admit, but probably the mystery of nothing! Nothing exciting happens in my life, it's why I love writing. I can create adventures and mysteries for fictional characters without having to live that life myself.

Song lyrics; photographs of people where I try to imagine what could be happening that I don't know about; reading other books and thinking what I would have done differently, perhaps.

A book unrelated and totally different to 'Addicted to Love' - think Arthurian legend/medieval romance - basically a fairytale. You know the sort: evil stepmother/queen, an exiled princess, a king who just happens to sail by and then rescues the princess who, incidentally, doesn't take that kindly to being rescued. Oh, and magic. Gotta have magic in there. I also have ideas for probably four further books in the Robert/Lexi saga. 'Addicted to Love' is not the end!

To paraphrase Shia LaBeouf - just do it! Just make a start, and you'll be amazed where it takes you. And if it gets too heavy and you fancy a break, then have one. If you feel that strongly about it, the story will eventually call you back.

The excitement of creating a whole new world, and characters to fill that world. And offloading a whole load of my peculiarities on to these characters - hence the David Bowie obsession with Lexi!

I really struggle with this, and can waste hours 'researching' obscure bits of information on the internet! I think the best thing to do is just write - anything, even if you go back later and delete it because it's rubbish. The very act of writing gets your brain in gear - just be kind to yourself!

It wasn't so much the idea that came to me, it was more the characters. I started thinking what would it be like to be rich and successful but have absolutely no connection to life or other people. Robert Taylor, the male protagonist, didn't so much walk into my imagination; he collapsed, stinking of whisky, cigarettes and loneliness. His counterpart is Lexi Seymour, equally lonely but perhaps more self-sufficient and adept at hiding this loneliness. I just knew these two characters had to fix each other, or shatter in the attempt.
