One word: write. Don't try to make things perfect on your first pass, and don't think your first cut at a story will be all that good. Write anyway, then set it aside, come back later with a fresh mind and a clean slate, and edit, edit, edit until it shines.

One of the best things I've gotten out of the process is making lots of new friends with creative, interesting people, both in person and online. I have also enjoyed the research side of my work. I do a deep dive on virtually everything I put to paper - online, in books and with lots of trips - and it is truly amazing what you can learn about this crazy world we live in! Writing really has forced me to get out of my comfortable little bubble and interact with new people and new experiences.

I have been fascinated by the origins of Christianity all my life, especially how little most Christians actually know about the faith. A trip to Turkey in 2012 really highlighted all that ... reading up on Istanbul prior to the trip opened my eyes to the Great Schism and its impact on the Church. The legal stories are actually pulled from my recent cases.
