Bob Eckstein Heaven. I have a lot questions for the big guy and so I think there would be just a lot of conversation at the poolside.
Bob Eckstein Reading Hit Makers by Derek Thompson. Plus Colin Quinn’s Coloring Book. I have a stack of other books but been busy juggling finishing three books of my own at once so...

Bob Eckstein Hi Chris, thanks for writing and asking. To be totally honest, the Disney character holds little historical reference and is only meant for children’s entertainment. Sorry if that’s not the answer you were hoping for. I just finished a revised, very lush and beautiful new edition of the book called The Illustrated History of the Snowman. It comes out in Sept by Globe Pequot and I must say it’s amazing with over 300 photographs and paintings.
Bob Eckstein My favorite couple is the Odd Couple. Growing up I learned my humor chops from them and credit that show as the start of my career as a humorist and also as a New Yorker cartoonist.
Bob Eckstein Dear Elise, first off, apologies! I'm sorry but I'm just now seeing this, so sorry for that. I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed the book. I tried to create a unique reading experience and make the book a one-of-kind thing and unconventional. I did see that on GoodReads this is something many people liked and others are not open to.

To your question, I don't think so. I don't think I will do libraries anything soon. I came close and seriously thought about it, I even began collecting reference and formed a list, but I've been approached by so many bookstores not in my book that I now feel an obligation to continue. Especially recently when I learned of a couple of instances where the book helped the survival of a bookshop. So I'm hoping for a bookstore sequel (I believe my publisher is trying to also talk me into a Greatest bars book which I just illustrate for a bars expert). But yes, there are so many beautiful libraries and they need th spotlight in them to help their survival. Perhaps one day. It takes at least two years of work for me to complete the work.
Bob Eckstein A graphic novel on the missing Sir John Franklin. It's a diary from 1850 that's a mystery, romance and comedy. At this exact moment I am covering the 2016 election for the New York Times and doing daily electoral cartoons for the New York Daily News.
Bob Eckstein All the cliches are true about reading as much as you can, etc. You have to write a lot and a great piece needs to marinate and gain some perspective. I never assume a piece is at it's best until I've slept on it and try to be honest with myself that it's at the best state it can be. One last note, there's nothing wrong with writing the way you talk. Too many people have two different voices.
Bob Eckstein Low overhead. I'm only half joking. I love being a writer because I can do it anytime and anywhere whether I'm on a walk or in the shower working out an ending to a story or a line. It needs no equipment or set-up, just your brain and imagination. I like to joke that I'm just like Victoria's Secrets model...we both work in our underwear.
Bob Eckstein I was taught early on that needing inspiration was a sign of amatuerism and pros don't wait for that spark but hit the grindstone. I guess I'm from that school and impending deadlines as a writer, cartoonist and illustrator create a frantic pace of producing and being efficient as possible. Maybe the lesson here is to solve writer's block, work under the gun.
