W. Chris Winter I did enjoy the process of writing the book. I travel a lot for work, so I fell into a rhythm of writing a things I wanted my patients to know or think about once they left my office. The document grew and grew over the years. Fortunately an agent (not knowing I had written so much) thought I should write a book based upon some other media writing I had done.

If by narrate, you mean that you are listening to the audio book (which is me reading the text), I have to say I don't like listening to my voice, particularly "ch-" and "sh-" sounds. I enjoyed the process, but think if I could have gotten James Earl Jones to read it, I should have gone in that direction. The book is personal to me...I put a lot of myself into it, so I felt like I should read it.

I'm glad you like the book, and I appreciate you taking the time to say hello and give me some feedback. I hope the second half of the book lives up to the first 5 chapters.

Congrats to you for giving up the alcohol. That's not an easy thing to do for some, but it can help many with their sleep.

Again, thanks for not sucking as a book reviewer. If you ever find yourself on Amazon, I would sincerely appreciate a review. They mean a lot to me!

Have a great holiday AF!

Sincerely,

Chris
W. Chris Winter I've been circling back around to some classics that I've missed. Catcher In the Rye and Catch 22 are at the top. Not sure how I made it 44 years without reading either.
W. Chris Winter How I made it through medical school is a mystery. Once when I was on my Ob/Gyn rotation, I was so sleep deprived I fell asleep in an empty patient room and woke up the next morning as my team was rounding on the patient next door. I heard the attending say, "Aren't we one med student short this morning?"

I also have no recollection of buying my wife's wedding band. I was a poor premed student at the time. While I'm not admitting to stealing it, I have no idea how it ended up in my pocket during my wedding ceremony. It's a mystery.
W. Chris Winter I'm currently working on a book about sleep as it pertains to all of those individuals in our lives too young to drive or see R-rated movies unaccompanied.
W. Chris Winter Answering this question, to me, feel's like a Powerball winner answering the question, "What's your advice for aspiring lottery winners?" I'm embarrassed that I really don't have an answer that passes the profoundness test. I do agree that writing frequently helps as well as getting your writing in front of others. Don't be afraid to give bits and pieces away.
W. Chris Winter Without a doubt, it is being able to introduce myself as a writer. Several years ago I was given a sex-themed magnetic poety kit. I came up with some real stirring verse and soon after added poet to my resume. My qualifications for both titles are comparable.

In all seriousness, the best thing about being a writer, to me, is to have something tangible I can give to my patients and those struggling with sleep problems. Instead of being able to speak to one person at a time, I can reach many people at once. It's an absolute privilege.
W. Chris Winter I think I have the opposite problem. I hate when doctors use technical jargon, but I think the term for my condition is writer's diarrhea; I have so many ideas and suggestions for my readers about their sleep, I can't stop writing. Fortunately I do not have writer's cramps that can sometimes be associated with this condition.
