When I was writing this book, the words would flow best when I was on a plane. I knew that if I was flying, I needed to bring my laptop or make sure my phone was charged up to be able to write away. It was just this weird thing that happened. I don't know if I was just super bored on the flights and got lost in my thoughts so had to jot it all down or if it was the idea of having no real distractions to interfere with me tapping in to my creativity. I flew, A LOT, as you'll see when reading my book so I had a lot of opportunities to be in my "space." When I wasn't flying but had a sort of deadline to write by (I used to release a blog post every Sunday with a new chapter), I would shut off the tv, sit on the couch and dedicate myself to typing away. My advice would be to find your quiet spot, whether it's the home office, the park, a starbucks, wherever. Somewhere where you will be disinterested in what's going on around you and be able to truly hone in on what you're thinking, feeling and therefore, writing.

It's actually pretty crazy saying "I'm a writer/published author" but it's exciting to share my story with others and receive messages of how readers became hopeful, inspired or touched by my words. No one writes for the money. Let's be honest, I'll get more sales when my book is offered on a free promo than with a price tag. However, it's the way you can change someone's life or perspective, even in the smallest sense, by your ideas, thoughts, experiences and actual lived-through stories.

Don't give up. Write from the heart. Be as real or truthful as possible as that's how your readers will connect with you or your main character, if they can resonate with their personality, feelings and actions. Don't be afraid to throw it out to the world but re-read and edit several times until it's exactly what you want it to be - don't rush yourself!

I'm currently switching gears a bit and working on a travel blog. I am sharing my itineraries, photos and experiences from my foreign travels to inspire others to take flight! www.grazgoesglobal.com

I was inspired to write Once Upon an Oktoberfest due to the actual story being pretty unbelievable that I couldn't help but share it. Every friend who knew the details literally told me that I should write a book about it. I finally gave in!

I got the idea from actually living through the plot. Writing a memoir was always something I wanted to do but I never thought I had an interesting enough story to tell, until now.
