S.R. Akulick The same way I deal with writer's block. I dive into other worlds of fiction and fantasy until some tangent thought presents itself. Once I have a work in progress, talking about it with a friend usually helps get me psych'd.
S.R. Akulick Write and write and write some more. The only way to get better at writing (or just about anything else) is to do A LOT of it.

Also - everybody sucks when they start. It may sound harsh, but the first thing you write will not be a masterpiece. You'll have to write a lot of different things before you come up with something awesome - or the same thing a lot of times. Either way, practice makes perfect.
S.R. Akulick Sharing your worlds and characters with others. I love writing, but it really comes together when someone laughs at the wit in my writing or tells me they've picked a favorite character (and more often than not threatens to have a harsh word if I kill them off.) Books are written to be read, after all.
S.R. Akulick Take a break and experience another story. My favorite way of doing this is going to the movies - but it can be picking up another book, playing a videogame, or trying to write something one-off that I have no commitment to finishing. Taking the stress off and throwing yourself into another fictional world gets rid of all of those invisible walls stopping me from writing what I want to write.
