Tempeste Blake I honestly can’t remember exactly. I believe it may have been something in the news that triggered the initial idea, but the story has changed and evolved so much since then that it’s difficult to pinpoint. That’s one of the many things I love about story telling. You can start one place and your characters take you in a completely different direction. It’s a fun ride!
Tempeste Blake Ooh, so many choices. I could go with the classics: Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde, Scarlett and Rhett . . . But, the first couple that came to mind was Henry and Clare from The Time Traveler’s Wife. When ‘love transcends all’ includes time travel you know it’s the real deal! Their love story is tragic and heart-breaking for sure but unforgettable.
Tempeste Blake For me the best thing is being fully engaged in this thing called life. Colors are more vibrant, I see more details, I feel more deeply as I live life as a writer. And when readers recognize this in my writing, it's the frosting on the cupcake!
Tempeste Blake Write. Too simplistic? I meet people who tell me they'd like to write someday, when they retire, when the kids are grown, when . . . But if they'd just write a little each day in the here and now it would serve them better later. Before I became a full time writer, I wrote on my lunch hour at work. If you want to write, you'll find the time. A lot of people think about writing, they like the idea of it and even feel like they've been bit by the bug. If it's truly something you want to do, put pen to paper or start clicking out stories on that keyboard.
Tempeste Blake If I choose to accept such a thing, first I visualize a real block. It can be made of stone or wood or whatever. Step on the block. Breathe deep. Look around. Inspiration is everywhere. Use obstacles as stepping stones. Something good is about to emerge, but you've got to step up. Also, a walk or shower does wonders to get the creative juices flowing again.
