Sorry for the extremely delayed response! I don't have a third book coming out in the near future (haven't had much time for writing lately with two toddlers at home), but I have a few ideas I'm excited about...

Thank you for the kind words! I plan to keep writing magical realism for the foreseeable future, so hopefully I'll write another that connects with you the way BEASTS did :)

Hi Courtney, Thank you! Unfortunately, it's not out yet. I'm still writing it! :)

Message me on Facebook. I'll send a few along :)

I-O! I actually moved to Cleveland last year, and I miss Columbus a lot. If anyone in your group has the paperback edition, there is a list of discussion questions in there. If not, let me know and I'll send you a few :) Thanks for reading!

Thank you, Samantha! I'm working on some new ideas now ;)

Hi Zoë! Thank you so much :) When I'm writing, I probably spend the most time developing my characters. It's important to me to have characters that I can relate to and empathize with, even if the choices they make are not the ones I would make. Once I get to know them and figure out what motivates them, then the plot just falls into place!

Nature inspires me a lot. If I have writer's block, I like to go on a walk or a run in the woods. Also, reading work by talented authors or watching a well-written movie/TV show is a big motivator for me to work on my own projects.

I'm not sure I can really answer that question as I don't have any experience self-publishing. Good luck!

Probably a thrush because I love their bird song!

Don't shy away from constructive feedback. Personally speaking, I only started really growing as a writer after workshopping my stories with others. :)

I think it depends on the intended audience (obviously, kids books tend to have more drawings), but I personally like books that have a little art in them, especially at the head of a chapter or another natural break in the story. If it feels right to you, go for it!

If I could have written any book it would be St. Lucy's Home for Girls Who Were Raised By Wolves (by Karen Russell)! Her prose is stunning and her stories have the perfect amount of strangeness.

I like all kinds of different genres, but I actively seek out contemporary stories with a little splash of whimsy or surrealism. Honestly, I'll read anything with great characters, and a sense of humor is a huge plus!

I'd like to, yes! I'm currently working on a new idea that I think has a lot of promise :)

The Lord of the Rings are my favorite books, but in terms of style of prose, I love Karen Russell. I kept putting down Swamplandia because I had to write down my favorite passages!

Thank you! I'm in the early stages of a new project that I think has potential, so I'm seeing where that goes.

If I could live anywhere, I would live in the Pacific Northwest! I love evergreen forests and mountains, so I'm sure I'd feel right at home there :)
