Hank Bruce Thanks for this interesting question. There was an encounter with a group of heavily armed men in a remote area in Florida that led to a great deal of research and intimately the novel "Gator Island" released last year in a Kindle edition.

But, there is another that has led to some on-going research that will hopefully lead to another novel. When we moved to New Mexico one of the first places we visited was Quarai Pueblo ruins. There was a an overwhelming sense of sadness as we walked the grounds. I have been trying to understand this for almost two decades now. It is beginning to take shape as "Treasure Map" a study in both greed and the quest for knowledge. Thanks again for the great question.
Hank Bruce The never-ending opportunity to learn something new is one of the best things about this as a career. I don't write to teach, I write to share thoughts. This means that communicating with readers is another of the best things about writing.
Hank Bruce The answer to this question is different for each individual. For me there is a rhythm to the writing process. This involves research, writing and rewriting; not necessarily in that order. When one part of this process becomes difficult, I devote time to one of the other elements.

Also, I never work on only one project at a time, and this usually means I can switch from fiction to non-fiction. Then, there's always COFFEE!
Hank Bruce Relax. Be observant, research, take notes and spend a lot of time listening. Don't be as concerned with writing what you know as writing what you can LEARN.
Hank Bruce Two current projects are in the works, both also being co-authored by my wife, Tomi Jill Folk. "A Prayer for My Mountain" will be an ebook release on Kindle. It deals with Taylor Mountain, a sacred mountain in NM, uranium mining and the consequences of mining to the Native Americans who were in the mines.

"Miracles Grow in the garden" is a collection of our decades of experiences as horticultural therapists. These short reminisces are sometimes amusing, sometimes inspiring, but all celebrate the everyday miracles experienced by everyday people.
Hank Bruce Coffee! Coffee! Coffee!
Hank Bruce "The Children's Peace Garden" is a children's book beautifully illustrated by Miho Komatsu. This book is the result of a conversation with two other families on a stormy afternoon shortly after 9-11. A child entered to conversation and "Why can't we grow peace?" This book will be officially released in Albuquerque, NM Sept 21st, World Peace Day.
