Write the book! Don't over think it, don't let life get in the way, just dedicate a set number of hours each week to putting words on paper. Even if you never send it off, you will have learned something from the experience which will stand you in good stead for the next book.

It was something I always thought about. When I was little, I could never fall asleep quickly, so I made up little stories in my head to help pass the time while I was staring at the ceiling. I still do that- except now I plot each new chapter rather than a whole story. The older I got, the more I wanted to write them down. I kept telling my students (yes-I was a history teacher) 'One day I am going to write a book...' Except I never had the time. In one mad moment, I quit my job and thought, right! Enough dreaming- Just do it! And I did!

Rather bizarrely, I came up with the title first. I was vacuuming and thought, That Despicable Rogue- now there's a good title for a book. Once I had the title, the story developed from there. He, obviously, had to seem despicable to her. So I made him do something unforgiveable...
