If I could take my kids and grandchildren with me, I'd give this question so consideration, but I'd never go anywhere without them. Besides that, I hate drama and all the fictional worlds I can think of have their own drama. I'll just stay in the real world and struggle with the devil I know.

I'm not sure why I'm being asked about my summer reading plans when fall is quickly approaching, but I'm currently reading my way through The Wheel of Time series again, and when I'm done with that, I'm going to read through the Harry Potter series again. Why? Because I really enjoyed both of them and hope to in some way relive that experience.

The best thing about being a writer is getting to live in your own fantasy world at least for short periods of time. Books have always been an escape from reality for me. The same is true for writing. Having family problems? Are the bills getting to you? Would you rather eat your shoes than go to work tomorrow? A good book or writing a story will let you set all of these things out of mind for a while. (Warning: Don't ignore any of those problems completely. It requires work to deal with personal and professional relationships and living on a budget is a must to deal with financial issues. Writing and reading are only a temporary escapes.)

I mostly find inspiration in movies and books. Sometimes I like what happens, and I feel the urge to write my own version of events. Other times, I hate it and feel like the story needs to be told in a different way. Inspiration comes from numerous sources, pictures, songs, or even just something said the wrong way. It's always exciting when it happens.

I'm currently working on rewriting my first book before sending it back out to publishers. I got the premise from a dream about a planet that had warehouses full of food and supplies but no one lived there.

After four years of writing, I know there will never be a good time to answer this question. I always have a dozen projects in the works and half a dozen that I want to do. At this moment, I'm working on a story that I'm going to submit to Black Hare Press for a project that hasn't been publically announced.

I can almost guarantee you that you will get the same answer from any writer you ask. If you want to be a writer, all you have to do is write. Write for free, write for fun, and before you know it, people will be paying you to write.

Yes. How much are you willing to pay for one? ;)

I don't believe in it; there is always a story to tell. Join an open call group on Facebook and look though it. Trust me, something will spark your imagination and cause you to 'put pen to paper.'
