Matthew Readling The ability to create something that captures a person's imagination, that takes them on a journey through pictures in their mind. To have someone tell you that they enjoyed reading the "pictures" you wrote for them, is the best compliment in the world.
Matthew Readling Sometimes I will switch gears and work on something else like say a poem to overcome writer's block. The thought is to look at it from a fresh perspective and perhaps see a connection or direction that you did not see before. Also, a long ride on a country road with good tunes works great too!
Matthew Readling The story started out as a gift for my nephew, plus I wanted to prove to myself that I could actually complete a book as I had always written much shorter prose and poetry. I was fascinated by the tortoise Tu’i Malila, her history and great age, so I took her and my nephew, and combined the two elements into the tale that it is.
