Laura Moe There are many great fictional couples, but most prominent to me are Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. D'Arcy from Pride and Prejudice. I love how Elizabeth can hold her own against social conventions and inadvertently earn D'Arcy's respect and love by being an independent thinker instead of what conventional society expects. They are equally matched.
Laura Moe Yes, but it was a long time ago, when i was a kid, before all the uproar.i enjoyed Karachi.
Laura Moe I recall it was part of a series of books. You can probably still access the school library catalog by going to LACA.org and finding the Maysville page. I'm pretty sute the library still has it.

I hope this helps.
Laura Moe I rarely feel blocked. If I run dry on whatever project I'm currently working on, I pause and do research,( yes, even fiction requires research to get the details right) or I work on a different project. Often I write a blog post, and just the act of writing helps open the writing gates. It's like in life drawing classes: you send the first 30 minutes doing quick sketches, then the rest of the time, 2-3 hours, on a long pose.
Laura Moe The best thing about writing is Discovering . I discover the deeper layers in my characters' lives, and I often come away surprised with what I've written. I discover things I didn't know, or things I forgot I knew.
Also, I have cool writer friends and cool reader friends.
Laura Moe Read a lot, and write a lot. Also fail a lot. This book, as well as my others, went through multiple drafts. Even now that it's set to be printed, I can see places I'd like to edit...the writing never ends.
Laura Moe I'm working on a sequel to BREAKFAST WITH NERUDA. I hadn't intended to write a series, but Michael, Shelly and others from the novel started appearing in my dreams. They sort of forced me to do it.
Laura Moe I'm never sure of this. Sometimes I see or hear something and the gears start turning, and the next thing you know,I've drafted a novel. Other times an image of a character appears, and I place this character in a variety of situations which lead to a story.
Laura Moe As a teacher, I learned a great deal about the home life challenges my students faces. Michael, my protagonist, and his family, represent a collection of those stories.
