The mystery of my ancestor written about in my ebook continues to unfold as I continue to research and pore through old documents and files. There's so much more to discover and I find the history of so-called ordinary people to be fascinating.

Hi there, thank you so much for the read! I'm actually in the process of putting on pre-sale on Amazon (it's a bit chicken/egg this advance review thing). I will get at it and post again when it's actually there to review. I appreciate your interest :)

Next up is: The Soul of an Octopus - can't wait to get into this one! I'm also learning about intentional communities/living so this one: Together Resilient - Building Community in the Age of Climate Disruption is calling from my shelf as is Octavia Butler's Kindred, which my mom gave to me.

I once had such writer's block it felt like something "closing in" on me, becoming more and more restrictive. I was tormented for weeks and finally decided to book a solo trip to a writer's retreat house in Maine. Just being there in that peaceful, quiet, creative place--outside of my my own space--made the difference. First I started just journaling, getting it all down without self-critique/criticism. Soon enough I wrote an intro to an article and things started to flow again.

Oh man, it used to be something they teased about on graduation from university. "Liberal arts degree? What're you gonna do with that?" scoffed the business students.

Trust that your story is worth telling and that you have something to say that is different from everyone else by virtue of the fact that no one has walked in your exact same shoes.

I have so much to say now. So much I wish to express. Inspiration is springing forth and I feel grateful that things have been flowing for me these last few years. There was about a decade (raising young children and scrambling to keep it all together) when I just didn't feel inspired to write creatively even though I was getting paid to be a writer (my own business).
Nowadays if I need inspiration I just think about how much I want to reveal the many aspects of myself and my life, and to have it make an impact on my readers, leaving people transformed in some way.

One of my brothers and my sister and I had talked for some time about putting a book together based on letters we had received from our father over the years--sometimes wise and witty, sometimes completely exposing the downward spiral of acute alcoholism. Ultimately, a larger story needed to be told and in the process I discovered my own story, one that had never been fully fleshed out until I discovered a treasure trove of my father's letters going all the way back to the 60s.
