Hi! That's a great question! She literally sprang into my mind all at once, the way you think about someone you already know. Who she is as a character was all formed as if I was just thinking of a friend I knew well. She's been 'with me' since 2011 but I wasn't ready to write her story at that time. The very bizarre thing about Eve however is that one thing eluded me. Her name! Since her conception in 2011 she has had at least 10 different names! This has never ever happened for me as a writer. I've written thousands of characters and their names just come with them as they are conceived and never change. I've concluded this is because she's the oldest soul and has had so many lives and with them so many different names! No other way to explain it! Hope you enjoy her story!

The writing! That's the best thing. Going to 'the place' where stories live, being there and bringing the character's stories onto the page. That's it. Having just endless hours everyday is kind of the dream. When I was young I'd write and write and write for days and weeks with little sleep, and no mind to things like food and the outside world. That's a sort of strange paradise for my soul. But balance is important. These day, if I get 5-6 hours a day I'm grateful. In my life now I can manage a great deal of starting and stopping, almost a ridiculous amount. With kids and a family and a house to manage, I've learned to turn it on and off like a faucet. Write through chaos, hordes of kids running about, boiling pots, it doesn't bother me. In fact having things like an active dog who needs a good long walk and a big garden that needs tending is all very healthy for me. Though it's a struggle to give my focus and attention to each of these things a bit each day, I know it's good for me as a writer to have a life 'off the page' as well.

I stay away from things like the news and exess consumption of mindless things. If I stay grounded within myself it is never a problem. There are days when I struggle more to get say 1,000-2,000 words and there are days when I'll easily write 5,000, so sometimes it flows and sometimes it sort of stumbles along but in the end it's all important work.
