The book I'll be reading this Summer is The Book of Night Women by Marlon James. I can already tell from the first few pages it's going to be bitter-sweet for me. Not only in the devastating story of slavery but the dialect it's written in. I'm finding myself reading and re-reading paragraphs just to get the story let alone any deeper layers of meaning. Hopefully, I'll acclimate quickly. Either way, I am pressing on. If you've read either of my books then you know how deeply I value the voices of the ancestors and the opportunities they're offering us to heal today. I will keep you posted.

I think the greatest mystery in my life thus far, has been my relationship with my father. By the age of eleven, we'd established a deeply spiritual and energetic connection. Mostly, based on similarity, mutual respect, and a lack of emotional connection. His passing that year left me with the same relationship I'd always had. His spiritual presence without any way to understand its purpose and wisdom. Finally, in my adulthood, I was able to hone the skills--mainly the ability to channel a conversation with the spirit of my father without the lens of my grief or adolescent confusion--that could reveal many of my long unanswered questions.

After giving it some thought, I am surprised to report that my all time favorite fictional couple is Col. Steve Austin and Dr. Jaimie Sommers. Having felt like a strange bird as a child, I fantasized about marrying a man like-- bionic Steve Austin. I could identify with both of their realistic super-powers and it gave me hope of finding a life mate. Even though they divorced--because saving the world is hard on relationships--they always remained close and deeply cared for one another.

(view spoiler)[All my life I've had awareness, on subtle levels, of my past life history. It would reveal itself in my tendencies and attitudes and reawaken in my dreams. I know that others have similar experiences but maybe not the ideology to allow the force of their soul wisdom to break through. The book was my way of offering a framework so that everyone could receive the bounty their spiritual life provides. (hide spoiler)]
