I've always wanted to write mysteries, but coming up with the whodunits can be tricky, like putting a puzzle together without a picture of the finished product. My current mystery came to me in bits and pieces as I streamed on Twitch.

I find myself getting inspired from all sorts of things. From works of art, historical events, myths and fairy tales, I find inspiration all over the place. Finding the time to write about all of it is the hard part.

I am rewriting the second book in the Pandemonium mystery series. The working title is The Girl and the Clock Tower Murder. You can read the first draft on Wattpad and Inkitt.

If you write, you're already a writer. Just because writing may not pay the bills or be your full-time gig doesn't mean you aren't a writer.

Creating something from nothing. From thoughts swimming in my head to random snippets of dialogue, I somehow weave it all together to create scenes that become chapters that will hopefully become books that people want to read.

I don't usually get writer's block. I get an overwhelming sense of anxiety when I have to edit a piece that needs a lot of work and I don't know where to begin. This feeling sometimes spirals into productive procrastination where all of a sudden the hall closet is getting organized or the silverware draw cleaned instead of that chapter getting rewritten.

I don't have any mysteries in my own life, per se, but there is one I discovered in my grandmothers.
While researching my family history, I came across my grandparent's marriage certificates. There was an affidavit attached because she was underage, and her mother had to be present to acknowledge the union. Another surprise was that her status wasn't single but widowed. Yes, my grandmother had been married twice before the age of 18.
As to the circumstances of the first marriage, I may never know.

I would travel to the village of Hadsgate in The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle, search for Shmerdrick the Magician and have him teach me magic.

Jesse awoke to find the room bathed in blood and everyone dead. Her horror grew as she heard the child's delighted laughter.

Well, it's not exactly in my life, but in my grandmother's. While doing some family history, I ran across a marriage certificate from my grandmother before she married my grandfather at 18.
Previously, my grandmother had married a man when she was only 16 but was widowed less than a year later.
I would love to know more about this marriage and how the young man died. There are so many unanswered questions that may remain that way.

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente. A while back I read Space Opera by Valente and she rocketed to be one of my favorite authors.
And anything by Holly Black. Everything she writes is amazing.
