Before I saw Star Wars, I used my whole allowance to buy the book. I was always fascinated by books. Because these stories contained worlds that we're allowed to escape into. But it wasn't until that day when I brought home my purchase and looked upon that artwork by the Brothers Hildebrandt, and then began reading George Lucas's story that I knew, I must follow this path.

By doing my version of a rain dance. I think about what I'm trying to say. If I'm stuck, it's usually because I'm trying to tell it from the wrong perspective or I don't know enough about that character. Often times, I'll go take a shower, put on some music, dance like no body's watching, and reflect on these things. (Don't do this at home, dancing in the shower can be dangerous...I know.) But it's surprising how such a mindless task not only makes you smell better, but refreshes your thinking about the story.

Perseverance, belief that you are doing what God intended, and the need to tell a story no matter what. As any artist, you're always going to question if you are good enough. If you're committed to the solitude, patience, and dedication of bettering your craft, then you're good enough. I know it sounds so cliche, but just keep writing. If you can find others that encourage and support what you endeavor to accomplish.
