Rohvannyn Shaw When I think about fictional couples, I think of Anakin and Padme. Their love was really star crossed, but there is a lot to learn from the story. It speaks to me of the dangers of obsession, the constancy of devotion, and the difference between attachment and entanglement.
Rohvannyn Shaw Being a writer is satisfying because when I'm writing, I am doing something I was meant to do. Literature was part of my childhood from day one. Both my parents are writers. They both read to me when I was little, and encouraged me in my writing when I got older.

That early encouragement is a big reason why I'm comfortable with being a writer, and why it's satisfying. I think the best thing about it is being able to communicate to other people. It's also an awesome feeling when I find that someone liked what I wrote!
Rohvannyn Shaw Never give up.

Never stop learning either. Think about what you read. Analyze it. Why do certain ways of telling a story work? Why do other ways not work so well? Also, read books about writing better. Take advice from other people.

Become good at taking criticism and approach everything from an attitude of learning. Make time to write, even if it's fifteen minutes.

And never, ever, ever give up.
Rohvannyn Shaw I get up and do something else for a little while. Or I write about something other than my current project. Sometimes I'll try to look at the idea sideways to get the "creativity pump" working again. Sometimes I throw up my hands and quit for a bit!
Rohvannyn Shaw Several things. My blogs, of course, because I'm trying to get MindFlight off the ground and develop readership.

I'm finishing the editing and illistrations for "How To P!ss Off The Customers" and expect to have that done by the first week in October.

I'm over halfway through "Rageth," a modern comedy/horror novel about a customer service rep who discovers the phone system is haunted, and I have a solid start on a pure fantasy novel that will be called "Silverwings." That's going to be about a young woman trying to learn magic who makes friends with a mysterious winged mare.
Rohvannyn Shaw There are a lot of ways I'm inspired. It can be from reading someone else's book, having an interesting question about the world, reading a really good article or blog, seeing a fascinating picture and wondering what's going on in it, or perhaps a conversation with my wonderful partner. I try to record all the ideas I have and I keep the best ones in a file so I always have story ideas.

I usually am inspired to work on projects nearly every day, though I have several going on at any given time so there's always something I'm interested in. Having a blog always gives me something to work on.
Rohvannyn Shaw My most recent book, "How to P!ss Off The Customers," which as of this writing is in final editing, was inspired by my work. I've been in customer service for a long time and I've seen a lot of funny things, so I put them into my latest book.
