My most recent book Black Politics 2.0 was inspired by my experiences as a grassroots community organizer on staff of the National Welfare Rights Organizer (NWRO) during the civil rights period; as well as my experience as a political activist in electoral politics, during the 1980’s to date. It is my considered judgment that the popular political narrative particularly as it relates to the African American community is a deception, primarily because the organic political leaders have been marginalized. They are marginalized by way of the accepted civil rights leadership orthodoxy, elected and un-elected.

I generally go to bed inspired and I wake up inspired. In addition, unfolding developments, with family, friends, neighborhood, state, nation, world and universe provides me with great inspiration.

I recommend that aspiring writers should experience life, and write just cause. Be curious about all that interest you and write just cause. Write, write, write, and you will ultimately find and develop your voice.

The best thing about being a writer is a great question because it offers me the opportunity to speak about the profundity and dynamics of the word per se, the spoken and written word. But I won’t bore you with all of that! Being a writer provides me with the opportunity to be quite, thoughtful, communicative, inspiration for research, and I often experience a sublime ecstasy.

I have never experienced writer’s block. I suspect that my creative habits are a factor that enables me to transcend writer’s block. I am always writing on more than one project as I have a range of working titles for future books, and the dynamics of current events provides me with great inspiration for my blogs, and personal undertakings.
