Long before I had taken up the cudgel (I had myself, dropped the thing!) to do my first book, perhaps for at least ten years prior to this. My wife would goad me... "You used to be so good making up stories for our own; why not write a children's book. Think what satisfaction it would give you to know it turns out to be something other children seek today." Something that ran like that.
Thus, even before reaching half-way through the first, I had gotten into the third and current book - obviously a children's story.

To be truthful I don't know where inspiration to write comes from. At least not until I've formulated or created a stream of flowing thoughts. Then take control if I could, of the current. Solitary walks... just making observations they help. Talk to myself in my mind of course and soon I'm fantasizing. Let it happen.

Since having Exparanza published on March 31 2015, I have finished my second novel, yet again a piece of historical fiction. Well secured and locked away. I'm now near completion my third book - a children's/young adults story. Perhaps any day now... the next writers block to stall my progress and I'd start that fourth book. Finally, it would be the first novel I can say that I do know what it's going be all about even before a start.

Perhaps with Exparanza being but my first book, I ought sit here, tarry awhile longer, that bit more of experience before venturing this one.
But no! It may yet be invaluable to pass on to you what I have to this point gained. I was not one of your run-of-the-mill aspiring writers. Note I use a pseudonym which I'm sure will prove more than an overwhelmingly wise decision. I didn't even have a story I yearned to share with the world.
When I was finished though, I promptly sent it to five publishers. That with hindsight was a gigantic error. I ought firstly, have found five competent reviewers and farmed the manuscript out amongst these. Of course I would have acted from the assumption (typographical and speIling errors apart) I had a first class understanding of what constituted fine writing and good literature.
My second error would come from things like being grossly misinformed by the information provided me on publisher's websites. Things like Author's commendations and my own naivety taking for granted, things like promises even written ones of what they would do; but with wide enough loopholes though, to allow for later excuse to suffice for what was never intended.
So yes, by all means go for it, but be prepared even unto eternity; hold on to your manuscript until you get the contract you want. Believe me the money you'd spend to see yourself achieving... well as near as you could get to a negative sales income situation, you may painless ly hold to buy yourself a small a used printery business, hire a small staff and go print your own to see your name there where you want it.

'm sure it'd be like blasphemous to say like what God must feel like. But could not Henry Ford and so many creators of fine other fine things out-lived by their creations by centuries claim as much? But to be on the other side of God really; it's only man of all God's creations who, using the brains and hands given him by God, creates and he alone must derive the degree of unparalleled satisfaction realizable after completion his effort.

I certainly have experienced these.
I don't know whether there are an special schemes to handle these. I'd for myself simply give in. Leave it alone until the work speaks to me. No one put me on contract so I was always free to abandon the thing. So I simply threw in the towel. Go on to something else; like another piece of writing, until another block here. Do the same again or listen to that call. Hey, come back here! You have a story to tell, old boy: my story beckoned the heroin of my first story.
By Readiness of my first book, I was also halfway through my second. A two months break and this second finished in another month and I'm now near finished #3.
