Audrey O'Connor I just finished my second novel! It's called Caramel Beach. Doesn't that sound tasty? It's a follow-up to Lessons in Pure Life, centering around the adventures of sexy couple Lia and Diego.
Audrey O'Connor I traveled and lived in Guanacaste, Costa Rica for 3 months and was constantly inspired to write. I lived for my weekends by the ocean on black-sand beaches, swimming and reading for hours.
Audrey O'Connor Keep reading great stuff so your writing comes from a humble and inspired place.

Don't be afraid to do things that give you a new perspective.

Go to the library.

Open a bottle of wine and see what happens.
Audrey O'Connor Creating a world where whatever I want to happen can happen. I like to write about awesome parties and great atmosphere because I enjoy spending time there. Escaping into possibility brings me joy.
Audrey O'Connor I watch art films. When I'm out of creative steam, I need to refuel. You get used to producing and forget that an essential part of "putting out" is taking material in.

My favorites are:

Miyazaki's Spirited Away, Melanie Laurent's Respire (Breathe), David Lynch's Mullholland Drive, Twin Peaks and The Straight Story. I just watched the movie Secretary for the first time, with Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader. Loved it. Maggie gave me a whole new kind of heroine.
Audrey O'Connor Watching movies with good-chemistry leads is one way to get inspired. Tension is heady and it fuels creativity. Remember J-Lo and George Clooney in Out of Sight? Who knew being locked in the trunk of a car with another human could be so tempting?
