I have a WIP called 'Monarchs' which I hope to finish and publish this winter. It is a science fiction story inspired by a story my daughter used to tell, which I published in an e-book called 'Butterfly Family". That story has since grown on me and morphed into something completely different and now I am many thousands of words into an exploration of a future which is based on the core concept of her simple story...

I can reliably write about 500 words a day.... after that, I need to take a break while my imagination catches up and fills in get blanks so I have an understanding of what comes next. So I would say that when I hit writers block, it is a clue to me to stop for amount, let the batteries recharge, and go at the next bit tomorrow.

Our oldest daughter had this story she used to tell us, over and over, about how she wanted to turn us all into butterflies so we could fly away as a butterfly family together.
I took that story and published it as an e-book, but the concept stayed with with me and inspired my current work. I started to explore what a world would be like if a little girl actually ended up accomplishing something like that, and the unintended consequences such a success might have. Needless to say, that simple story is now totally out of control.
