Coco Nichole I try not to think about it too much. If I'm not writing, I try to occupy that time with something productive, like reading or outlining as much as I can.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Coco Nichole I think the best part about being a writer is that no matter what happens, a piece of you will always be surviving in the form of text. Even after you are long gone. Not only that, but as a writer, you have all the freedom in the world to create your own little universe. I'm not sure if this is odd, but I really do view my characters as my children with their own personalities, flaws, and goals.

How do you get inspired to write?

Coco Nichole Lots of things inspire me! Music, artwork, movies, nature, and other books. Most of the time, inspiration hits me when I least expect it. But if I need to stir up those writing juices inside me, I typically spend a few minutes scrolling Tumblr, Deviantart, or Pinterest while listening to music.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Coco Nichole My inspiration for Sun Kissed came from two main sources: My enthusiasm and love for dolphins and Peter Pan. For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed learning about dolphins. When I discovered the Amazon legend of the dolphin shapeshiftes known as Encantados, I knew that it would be the perfect platform for a story one day.

At the age of fifteen, I read J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan for the first time. I was so moved by this tale that I sought to write a modern interpretation. So I combined the legend of the dolphin shapeshifters with elements of Peter Pan. Thus Sun Kissed was born!
