Kathleen C. Perrin Hi Leentje,
Thanks for your question. I have been writing all my life. I have written stories since I was a little girl, I constantly have stories running through my mind, and I love words. I simply can't get all of my stories down on paper fast enough. If you go to my website at www.kathleencperrin.com then click on Blog (under "more"), then click on Dec 2014 and scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find a blog entry posted on 12/9/2014 entitled: "Of Words . . . " This tells a little of how my parents' experience of living through WWII inspired me to write. Today, my inspiration comes from my love of France, her beauties, and especially her mysteries. My husband is French, I speak French, and we have a little cottage in Brittany, so I get to do a lot of exploring in France!
I also find that inspiration comes to me in that phase of sleep just between being fully asleep and fully awake. When it happens, I jump out of bed, and get those ideas on paper before they are gone. My only limitation in writing is not a lack of inspiration. Rather, it's a lack of time. I just don't have enough time for writing because I not only work as a translator, but I have a full busy life with family, friends, hobbies, and Church responsibilities. I've never been bored and I have to carve out time to dedicate to writing. Thanks for your interest!

Kathleen C. Perrin Mont Saint Michel is one of my most favorite places on earth. It is only an hour and a half away from our little cottage, and I have been there too many times to count. The legends and history of Mont Saint Michel got my mind working on an interesting premise, and soon that premise turned itself into a project for the Watchmen Saga. There is something special about the stones of the abbey sanctuary on Mont Saint Michel. I can't give away the secret of Mont Saint Michel yet, but it will slowly be uncovered in the next two novels.
Kathleen C. Perrin I have said it before, but my muse is France. My husband and I have a family cottage in Brittany, which we have been renovating for the past three years. We get to France at least three times a year, and the history, vistas and stones of France tell their stories to me. I just don't have enough hours in the day to write down all of the ideas my "muse" gives me.
Kathleen C. Perrin I have two other adult novels that are finished, which need to go through the editing process before they get published. I'm also working on the 2nd edition of my non-fiction "Seasons of Faith and Courage." And of course, I'm working on the sequels to "Keys of the Watchmen." I don't have enough hours in the day to get to everything I have to do!
Kathleen C. Perrin For me, it isn't about the recognition, and it certainly isn't about the money! If you figured out how much you earned on an hourly basis, you would never be a writer. For me, it is honestly the self-satisfaction that comes from creating something, the pure love of telling stories, and being able to share my stories to those who appreciate them.
Kathleen C. Perrin Get prepared for it to take a long time to have any success. If you get discouraged easily, this path is not for you. Just keep writing and improving your craft. Ask friends for their honest opinions. It's amazing what a difference another set of eyes can make.
Kathleen C. Perrin It seems like my inspiration comes when I'm sleeping! I can't tell you how many times I wake up early in the morning with new ideas. So, when I have writer's block, I move on to reviewing and editing and hope that my creative juices will be flowing again the next morning.
