Do not believe that you absolutely need money to become published. I self-published both eBook and Print-on-Demand free. You are able to advertise at low cost or free. Remember that large publishers and agents will control the market and that will hinder your sales.
Just keep in mind your desires. Money is good to have, but I write to get the stories out there. They contain uniqueness that is not always shown in historical romance.
Now, if you simply do it for money, others probably have better advice. Talk with them. Go the direction you desire as it is all about you and your writing.

The idea of my book generated from a lot of things in my life at the time. My father fought COPD and eventually died from it as I was writing the book. He did not inspire the book, but it did assist me in understanding Sabrina's emotions.
Samuel and Henry generate from many good men that I know that do not necessarily start out life in a perfect household, but make it work for them.
And, to bring it all together, I simply thought of history and how women often did not have a say in anything.
