“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”

“...Until they stood at last by a crumbling wall, looking up and up and still farther up at the great tombyard top of the old house. For that's what it seemed. The high mountain peak of the mansion was littered with what looked like black bones or iron rods, and enough chimneys to choke out smoke signals from three dozen fires on sooty hearths hidden far below in dim bowels of this monster place. With so many chimneys, the roof seemed a vast cemetery, each chimney signifying the burial place of some old god of fire or enchantress of steam, smoke, and firefly spark. even as they watched, a kind of bleak exhalation of soot breathed up out of some four dozen flues, darkening the sky still more, and putting out some few stars.”

Thanks for friending me, Ann.I became a fan of your writing several years ago when I read The Scent of Lilacs. One of my favorite sources of book recommendations is CBD's "new & recommended" page, which is where I discovered your book. The Scent of Lilacs had a style and character depth beyond anything I had found in the Christian market, and it remains one of my very favorites.
Thanks, Ellen. Hope you enjoy the story if you read one of my books. A Christian thriller sounds interesting. I'll have to check out your book list. Hope you're having a productive and blessed day.Ann
Hi Ann! I am looking forward to reading one of your novels. I write Christian Thrillers and these books of yours will be a wonderful respite. Have a blessed day! Ellen C MazeMy newest thriller: The Judging: The Corescu Chronicles Book One

Thanks so much, Carole. Those were nice words to hear from you. I really enjoyed my Hollyhill characters and I'm so happy that Revell Books is re-issuing Scent of Lilacs with a new cover. Hoping other readers will discover it the way you did and get to know Jocie and friends. If you liked that book, you might like Angel Sister if you haven't read it yet.
