Like, there might be fiction in the details and in the way things ultimately pan out, but the bones of the story are clearly not made up. Even without knowing how much the characters look and feel like her own household, if you know anything about Mira

The Last Doorbell by William Parker
"This book is a recollection of a life lived.
It’s a story of companionship and beautifully written with heart and wit.
I loved how honest and raw it depicts Bens life through the decades as a gay man.
It’s full of character and charm, love and grief bu" Read more of this review »

"The Last Doorbell is a heartwarming memoir about Ben’s journey as a gay escort to the last doorbell he rings.

The book begins with the ending which is beautifully told and so heartfelt. The reader is then taken back to where everything started.

Lucy Ellmann
“the fact that you’ll never know what sort of person you might have been if you’d read different stuff”
Lucy Ellmann, Ducks, Newburyport

Nathan Hill
“What’s true? What’s false? In case you haven’t noticed, the world has pretty much given up on the old Enlightenment idea of piecing together the truth based on observed data. Reality is too complicated and scary for that. Instead, it’s way easier to ignore all data that doesn’t fit your preconceptions and believe all data that does. I believe what I believe, and you believe what you believe, and we’ll agree to disagree. It’s liberal tolerance meets dark ages denialism. It’s very hip right now.”
Nathan Hill, The Nix

Elizabeth Strout
“All these lives," she said. "All the stories we never know." (125)”
Elizabeth Strout, Olive Kitteridge

Ling Ma
“The past is a black hole, cut into the present day like a wound, and if you come too close, you can get sucked in. You have to keep moving.”
Ling Ma, Severance
