Laëtitia Hi!
My name is Laëtitia (Laeti for short) I am French and live in Egypt for the time being.
I love to read Scifi, paranormal and fantasy books.
I do not know really what else to say, except have a great day!

Jessica Hiya everyone, I'm Jessica, I live in Germany and my teacher life is so busy that I need some down time with non-school things. Books give me that. I have been a member of this group for quite some time, but I haven't been active. I want to try and participate actively this year - school permitting, obviously.

I'm 35 years old and my reading is pretty diverse: contemporary romance, romantic suspense, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, classics, and also a bit of young adult.

Sandra Welcome Laeti & Jessica, hope you've found some good books on our shelves!

Steph Hi Laeti & Jessica! Welcome 😊

message 1255: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Ember Merry meet everyone my name is Philip ShadowFire and I am a full practicing Eclectic witch and author of "The Book of Life" series involving 3 teen witches and their adopted older brother I am so honored to share with my readers for free. My books are like no other books in the market because they have actual spells and rituals from real witches that are incorporated in my fictitious story. Have you ever had complete strangers run up to you just to give you a hug because they love you so dearly? That is what Astraea, Isis and Aphrodite are all about as they help you discover your beautiful and sacred self in this incredible story waiting for you to read. They say they are teen witches that come from broken families but are they really? In this highly interactive series you will participate in several rituals and spells to discover who you really are, but are you ready for the challenge? Only time will tell but in the end I hope you realize the book you just read is really part of your life now too. The book of life is about all our lives but will my readers find out this book is really about their life too? Reality and fantasy become blurred in our book but if you are up for the challenge, just see how magical and wonderful life can be when you have a coven of sisters that loves you dearly! My sister's can't wait to meet you from the other side, see you soon, love ShadowFire.

Michelle Black My name is Michelle E. Black.
I wrote and published, just three days ago, my first Urban Fantasy novel in a series.
I am super excited to finally get something I've spent two years working on out into the world. I'm enjoying the adventure of transitioning from a writer to a published author, marinating in the gratitude that I did what I set out to do.
The learning curve is enormous and sometimes outright humbling (who doesn't want their debut novel to be posted just about Water Wipes baby wipes on Amazon?), but like with most of the adventures in my life, I jumped right in and with it there are risks. That strategy, however, trust me when I tell you has led to an extraordinary life. Glad to be here.
Back to you.

Welcome to the group :)

fVIe Heyyyyy!!!! I’m VI (did I steal the name of a character yes makes it easier to get sucked up by the books void) I loooove ✨fantasy ✨books cause who wouldn’t want to travel to another world given the chance and let’s face it the world I currently live in is quite boring I am also unable to pick between things currently why I’m in the sticky situation of reading multiple books and mixing together the universes so my fav book would have to be all of them any book that is able to absorb me and make me forget the real world while I read it does that sound like an addiction yes but who wouldn’t want to be addicted it’s literally a bargain deal anaways that’s everything about me

Michelle,

Thanks for posting there. I know, I know....it was back in May, but I just found this group. Actually, I'm totally new to Goodreads, but I checked out your book and it has a fascinating premise. Once the other books are out I will certainly pick it up. I am the worst at waiting for the next book in a series. I usually forget and years later find myself readding something and saying..."Have I already read this one?"

message 1261: by Oyindamola (new)

Oyindamola Hi Jeanine,

My name is Amari, and I am also new here as of yesterday. It’s nice to meet you! I would love to be your friend if you wouldn’t mind.

message 1262: by Steph (new)

Steph Welcome to SOS and Goodreads, Oyindamola 😊 Let us know if you have any questions. We’re always happy to help. Poke around the group, there’s some helpful info in our first couple of folders. Jump in anywhere you’d like; we’re a friendly bunch.

Steph Welcome to SOS, Zoi! Many of us are fans of the same authors + loads of UF lovers here.

message 1264: by Kateblue (new)

Kateblue Hi, I'm Kate. I have been hanging around for years but I've only looked at the sales page. I love collecting free/sale books and alerting people to the free/sale books I have found, and then five years later I have the first book in a series that everyone has finally decided they love :-). for free!

Somehow I ended up getting ALL your posts after a GR problem with not getting notifications. (If this happens to you, some of us think we figured it out. Sign out and sign in again . . . something I NEVER used to do.)

UF is my main love also, Zoi. I used to say I liked SF the best but some of the SF these days is so PREACHY and tries so hard to be literary. Puhlease!!

So from your posts, I saw that you are reading a Buroker book this month, so I will join. I really loved the one series of hers I read.
And now you will get to read all these over-wordy posts I make.

I am mostly hang with these guys:

Hugo & Nebula Awards: Best Novels https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
(some are great books IMHO and some are definitely not IMHO-I've got some recommendations of books to NEVER read from hanging with these guys-but I often disagree with them.)

SFF Hot from Printers: New Releases https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
Just what the title says . . . it is kind of a sister group to the Hugo/Nebula group-next month we will try to read the Nebula Award nominees.

The MacHalo Asylum for Mischief and Mayhem (MAM²) https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
A really fun place with some really zany people. They read a lot more epic and historical-rustic fantasy (not my fave) but then other times they read some books that have become my favorites. And they have introduced me to some great authors . . . And they are zany. I need more zany in my life these days, don't we all?

I am thinking that soon I will start hanging with these guys again:
Ilona Andrews Addicts (IAA™) https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
They used to get through all IA's material every year, but I am not sure they can still do it, as prolific as IA is.

Nice to meet you all

Kateblue Just wanted to let you guys know that the two groups I am a moderator for, Hugo & Nebula Awards: Best Novels https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

and

SFF Hot from Printers: New Releases https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

have spawned and created yet another spin off group called ORBIT – Otherworldly Reads, Bold Ideas, and Tales. This group is reading SF & F short stories and novelettes and our first task is reading all the Hugo and Retro Hugo short stories. I'm loving some of these, though some are pretty dense.

I must warn you, though, b/c we start with 1939 and are working forward, it's all very "manly" early on. I don't care, I grew up with this BS, and many are really great stories. But you might. Digression: I once had someone in a group (can't remember which) hate one of my faves ever The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress which was written mid-sixties--b/c didn't like the way the women were treated. Funny, the women basically had control over the men in this society, but whatever. I'm just letting you know that some of these early SF and F works show how times have changed and might not be to your taste

I'm actually not usually a short story and novellette reader, (and I guess you aren't either because, hey, you guys specialize in series-even longer than novels) but this group is really pretty fun. One other fun thing is actually FINDING the stories out there in internet land. So join if you like.

Steph Wishing you an official SOS welcome, KateBlue! Thanks for sharing your loves and groups. Sorry ya got blasted with the notification change but it’s nice chatting with you around the group. And, thanks for all the free/sale shares 😊

message 1267: by Amyiw (last edited Feb 09, 2025 08:28PM) (new)

Amyiw OK since KateBlue posted after years of lurking/hanging. I'll add in.

@Zoi- Nice to see all your additions to posts. My favorite genre is UF too though I go out to so many other genres, favs are UF UFR PNR SFR SF HR Mystery Erotic CR. I tend to avoid horror (suspense horrorish), YA/NA, and so far have NOT liked the new Romatasy? (fantasy romance) category with books like Fourth Wing; really not my thing. I have read many books from all the authors you listed, some are favorite favorites, and some I like some of their stuff and some stuff not as much. It is a good list of top UF/PNR authors.

I've just started being more prolific here as some of my groups have slowed to a crawl so want a more active addition. I've been adding to the member created UF list and other genre lists (PNR), SF/SFR for a number of year now, which I love as it has(/they have) given me so many ideas to add to Mt TBR.

Greetings!

Well. Let me introduce myself.

I have been an avid reader of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and mixed genres for many years, with a preference for books. Due to circumstances, finding myself far from my native place, having lost my library, I recently found myself on this site. I hope to find here not only new books, but also like-minded people.

Like many boys, I liked “wandering off-the-beaten paths in search of treasures.” Now I'm looking for books BEHIND the "bookcases" and in the "lost and found" sections. :)

Why am I in this group? I'll be honest - until recently I was not a fan of book series, with rare exceptions, due to the anticipation of the release of each new book. But this has recently changed. I hope to tell you about this later.

Steph Welcome, Net

message 1270: by Kateblue (new)

Kateblue I just wanted to say to all the friends I have made here that I am dropping out for a while. I am no longer buying books -- some big purchases are making me broke for a while, and also (Steph) there are too many threads that get sent out. And they are all frozen by the moderator so I cannot opt out of them. Also, I have decided that the series we are (re)reading, Jacky Leon, is not for me. I am quitting at the beginning of book 4. So I hope to see you again someday when I have time, but cannot now.

Bye to all! Friends forever?

message 1271: by Steph (new)

Steph Sorry for the frozen bday thread blast, Kateblue. I do them that way when I'll be needing a bunch of new threads at once b/c of GR's 3-new-threads an hour restriction. Sadly, there's no way for me to restrict notification to members, only members can do that.

I understand your reasons though and appreciate you taking a moment to share your thoughts with us. We certainly hope you'll return again. It's been fun chatting with you and discovering some series I'd not noticed before.

All the best to ya! You're always welcome @ SOS 😊

message 1272: by Sylvia (last edited May 31, 2025 02:10PM) (new)

Sylvia Conley Hello SOS!

My name is Sylvia and I'm a big SFF nerd. I love series in both genres, having some of the greatest classics read to me when I was still in single digits - Tolkien, Herbert, etc.

My love for sci fic and fantasy led me to authors like Anne McCaffrey, Anne Rice, C.S. Lewis, and many other great series authors in the SFF domain.

I'm also a writer and author of sci fi, fantasy, and science fantasy, most of my books turning into series. My debut novel, The Serpent's Chains, is the first in a series of three (and the first of many series I plan to release), and can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F925BSLN?...

I can't wait to connect with other series lovers, get some awesome new book recommendations (as if my TBR isn't long enough already, lol), and talk about all things SFF.
